Praying to Encourage Single Moms
It is so important for us to pray over single moms and pray for all moms to encourage them and uplift them so they are ready to tackle anything that comes their way.
Did you know that there are single moms mentioned in the Bible? Hagar, Naomi, and the widow at Zarephath are just to name a few.
Each of these women had their own struggles and hardships, and their own powerful stories that were shared in the Bible.
If you are a single mom, I am telling you this because I want to encourage you! I want you to know that you are not alone in your journey.
You have Jesus walking beside you every step of the way. Being a single mom isn’t easy, but it is still worthwhile because God has blessed us with our children, our family!
Bible Verses to Encourage Single Mothers
The best place for a single mom to find encouragement is in the Bible (of course!).
Scripture is literally filled with the encouragement and hope that a single mom needs to hear.
Use these verses to guide you in your daily prayers for single mothers to lift them up with the power of God’s promises and truths.
- Exodus 14:14 NIV – The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
- Psalm 28:7 – The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.
- Psalm 113:9 – The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.
- Psalm 127: 3 – Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.
- Proverbs 22:6 – Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
- Isaiah 41:13 – For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
- Matthew 6:33 – But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
If you are a single mom, I encourage you to meditate on these powerfully encouraging scriptures to keep your mind focused on God. He will continually remind you that you are not alone.
Prayers for Single Mothers
There are so many ways that we can pray for single mothers every single day.
- We can pray to encourage them.
- We can pray over the struggling mom to let them know God is with them.
- We can pray over single pregnant mothers.
- We can pray for the single mom to have strength.
- We can pray for the single mom to have peace.
- We can pray for the single mom to seek God first.
At the end of the day, single moms need our prayers over all areas of their lives so just keep that in mind when you are adding them to your daily prayers!
Prayer of Encouragement for Single Moms
I want to start off with a powerful, encouraging prayer for all single moms, that will help them get in the right frame of mind and make them feel better about themselves.
Dear God, I pray that the person reading this today is encouraged by what I have shared here, and through these prayers, too. I pray that the single mom’s spirits are lifted up and that she starts to feel better about who she is and what kind of mother she is for her children.
Please God, allow this mom to feel your love and presence in her heart, mind and soul, and to help her understand that you will always be there for her; you will never leave her nor forsake her. In Jesus’ Name, I Pray, AMEN
Mama, you might be feeling down, alone, stressed out, and burned out, but just know that God is always there for you. He tells us that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).
Prayer for the Struggling Single Mom
Being a single mom is not easy. It is stressful to balance a healthy work/life routine with children.
There are so many different obstacles that we face, and one of the biggest burdens is that we don’t have anyone else to turn to for immediate help such as a partner.
But what if I told you that you don’t need to feel as though you need a partner to turn to especially when times get tough?
You can simply turn to God and He will give you the strength that you need to endure. He is someone who you can talk to, cry to, and seek help from, always.
Dear God, I pray that whenever the single mom is struggling or needs the strength to endure what she is going through, that she always turns to you, Lord. I pray that you will continue to look after her family and provide for them, as promised in Your Word. I pray that you continue to look after them, watch over them and protect them as she continues on this journey as a single mom. In Jesus’ Name, I Pray, AMEN
God is our provider (Philippians 4:19; Matthew 6:31-32) and He loves and cares for us (Romans 5:8; 1 John 4:19; Romans 8:35-39).
Prayer for Single Pregnant Mothers
Single moms definitely need special prayers!
When I found out that I was pregnant, I was so shocked. There were a series of events that took place between then and when I had left my abusive ex, and it was just so hard to process it all.
I was so scared, alone, tired, overwhelmed, and hurt. But by the grace of God, He rescued me out of that awful situation that I was in, and to this day He has kept me safe.
Whether you are a first-time mom or having another child, pregnancies aren’t always the same between children. It can be a really stressful time, with all that we have to go through from morning sickness to fatigue, back pains, and so on.
Dear God, I pray that you will always be there for single moms throughout their pregnancy. I pray that you will protect them and their baby, keep them healthy, happy and safe and allow the pregnancy and birth to go smoothly. I pray for no complications and for a successful healing process after birth. Please comfort them during this time so they do not feel alone, or afraid. In Jesus’ Name, I Pray, AMEN
Give it all to God. Let all of your requests be known unto Him. Don’t see it as if you’re complaining, but rather, seeking His help and strength during these times.
Prayer for Single Mom to Have Strength
Single moms, like all moms, are strong and resilient. We face many challenges in our journey that help us grow stronger and more independent as a woman and as a mother.
But there are also times when we have just had enough, and we are at breaking point.
This is one of my favorite verses, and I encourage you to read it out loud:
“fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).
Dear God, I pray that when the single mom is at her lowest, you will give her the strength to help her through it all. Thank you for always being there for her, and guiding her on where she needs to go. Please continue to support her and her family, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, I Pray, AMEN
No matter what you are going through, or what you are feeling, God knows it all.
He knows everything about you: past, present, and future, and also knows what is best for you. He will always be there for you.
Prayer for Single Mother to Have Peace
There are hardly quiet moments in motherhood, where we can truly take time for ourselves to have some peace and quiet. Children always keep us on our toes.
But once you get a good routine established, you should be able to find times out of the day just for you, and God.
Heavenly Father, Please allow single moms to have some peace and quiet in the day to spend time alone with you. I also pray for her peace of mind, to know that everything is okay and going well with her family. In Jesus’ Name, I Pray, AMEN
A single mom needs to have the peace of knowing that you and your family are doing well and to have a peaceful spirit so that you are not being driven by fear when chaos comes (and it will!).
Prayer for Single Mothers to Seek God
As single moms, we tend to put aside our own wants and needs, to completely focus on our children, which is fine, to an extent. However, you cannot fill others from an empty cup.
You need to take time out for yourself, to replenish, and you also need to spend time with God.
I have been there. I KNOW how hard it is when you have so many sleepless nights, stressful days, the laundry is piling up, and there is a massive list of other chores that need to be done.
You are barely functioning, let alone even thinking about doing anything to help yourself.
But when a single mom seeks God over everything else, He will make a way for her to accomplish all of her earthly tasks related to motherhood (and life in general).
Dear God, I pray that the mom reading this prayer is encouraged today to seek you first and find time to spend with you, Lord. I pray that this mom is able to get through all that she is going through and that you help her with any sort of struggles or difficulties that she may have. Please allow her to find time out of the day to read The Bible and meditate on Your Word, and to pray to you. In Jesus’ Name, I Pray, AMEN
