Tuesday Blessings and Prayers
As a busy pastor’s wife and homeschool mom, Tuesdays are the start of my week. We take Mondays off for family day since our weekends are so busy. So, getting my week started by putting my focus on Jesus is so important.
Whether Tuesday is the start of your week or just another day to you, every day is a great day to prioritize our focus on putting Jesus first.
Be sure to check our daily prayers library to find prayers to pray every day of the week!
What Should I Pray for on Tuesdays
The best way to put Jesus first on your Tuesday is to start out with praise. Praise is honoring God for His character. Before I even get out of bed in the morning, I like to make a list in my mind of all of the amazing things I need to praise God for.
This puts my mind on the Lord right from the beginning of my Tuesday before my feet ever hit the floor. So, whoever else is up and whatever may be thrown at me, I am confident that the Lord is with me because I have reminded myself of who I serve.
“Dear God, I praise you because you are a personal God. You are MY God. You are with me and you are my Strong Tower, you are my Hiding Place, and You are my Rock. I praise you for your one and only son Jesus Christ and for His work on the cross that means I am your child. My focus is on You today, Lord, Amen.”
Tuesday Prayer Points
Sometimes half the battle of having a consistent and fruitful prayer time is just knowing what to pray. Having a plan is the best way to keep our minds from wandering and keep us focused on the main thing, Jesus.
In order to keep our focus, we need our minds, hearts, and all we do to be set on the Lord. Here are some Tuesday prayer points and scriptures for you to pray:
- For God to control our minds. Ask God to “take every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV)
- For God to control our tongues. Ask the Lord to “set a guard over your mouth and keep watch on your lips.” ( Psalm 141:3 NIV)
- For God to control our hearts. Ask the Lord to “create in us a clean heart” and show us any sin. (Psalm 51:9-10 NIV)
- For God to be in control of our actions. Ask the Lord to help you so that “whatever you do will be for the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV)

Tuesday Morning Prayers and Blessings
Once we have acknowledged God for who He is through praise and have committed ourselves to Him, we are now in a good posture to ask for His blessing on behalf of ourselves and others.
Scriptures encourage us to pray about whatever need we have as well as over our brothers and sisters in Christ. Ephesians 6:18 (NIV) says,
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
Tuesday Morning Prayer for Myself
When I pray for myself, I like to do it along with my daily Bible reading. The Holy Spirit teaches and convicts us as we read scripture so whatever He has laid on your heart is perfect.

One of the things I always pray for myself is that God will show me my sin. Once I’ve done this, I pray for God’s will to be done in my life just as Jesus taught the disciples to pray. (Matthew 6:10 NIV)
Last, I pray over any pressing concerns on my heart and ask Him to give me the strength to represent Him well during my day.
Finally, remember that we are encouraged in scripture to “pray without ceasing” so we can talk to God about anything and everything, all day, every day.
Use this Tuesday prayer to thank God for another day and ask Him to reveal His will for you today.
“Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the Bible and that you speak through it. Thank you for teaching me this morning as I read Your word. Please show me any unconfessed sin in my heart and ways I can grow and change to be more like Jesus. Please let you will be done in my life today. I want to honor You. Amen.”
Tuesday Morning Prayer for Family and Friends
One of the things that helps me in praying for my friends and family is to have a prayer list handy. I try and write down any pressing prayer needs along with some that have been shared with me. If the list is super long, then I tend to break it up and pray over a handful each day.
Sometimes, we want to pray for someone but are at a loss as to what to say over them. Here are a few suggestions from the Apostle Paul found in Ephesians 3:16-19 (NIV):
- They they “would be strengthened with power through God’s Spirit.” (v.16)
- That they “would be rooted and established in love.” (v.17)
- That they may experience and “grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. “ (v.18)
- “That they may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God” so that they are focused on Him and know Him more. (v.19)
Most importantly, any day, including Tuesday, is a good day to pray for our lost friends and families. We can pray that God will convict them of sin and that they will see their need for Jesus.
Use this Tuesday prayer to thank God for your family and friends and any special requests you may have regarding them.
“Dear God. Thank you for my wonderful family and friends! Please show ____________ their need for Jesus as their Savior. We know that you want all people to know you and have a relationship with you. So, please convict them of their sin and draw them nearer to you. Thank you, Lord. Amen.”
Tuesday Night Prayer
Nighttime is my favorite time to talk with God. I love to review my day with Him. Similarly, it’s also a great time to thank God.
Thanking God is different than praising God because praise focuses on God’s character and thanksgiving focuses on the blessings He has given to us.
Colossians 4:2 NIV tells us,
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” For your Tuesday night prayer, review your day in your mind. Thank God for every good thing you experienced or received throughout the day.
Use this Tuesday night prayer to simply thank God for the many blessings He has give you today!
“Lord, every good and perfect give is from above. Thank you for blessing my family. I thank you for the way you helped me with_____________. Thank you for giving me______________. Finally, thanks for all of the wonderful spiritual blessings such as your joy, peace, salvation, and hope. Give me a grateful heart. Amen.”
