I can picture you gently holding the pieces of my heart in your hands and bandaging them together. What a beautiful mental picture. I thank you that you are the God who heals. In Jesus’ Holy Name, Amen.

Lord, it is so hard to forgive sometimes. Yet you have shown us that in the hardest situations, forgiveness is possible.
I am grateful that I don’t have to try to prove that the one who broke my heart was in the wrong. Thank you that you will set the records straight someday. In the meantime, help me to let go and forgive. Amen.

We are assured that our broken hearts won’t last forever. This too shall pass.
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4 ESV

Prayer Against Loneliness After a Broken Heart
Because broken hearts often involve the loss of relationships, there are bound to be periods of loneliness.
Thankfully, God has given us opportunities for relationships with others who love Him. Sometimes they are closer than family.
Even better is the fact that we are never alone if we love God. He is always with us and wants us to talk to Him. So, when we are feeling lonely, we can pray:
Lord, right now I am feeling lonely. But you have said that you will never leave me. Help me to think about you being here right now. As a child would climb into their father’s lap, help me to picture you holding me.
Even if the most important ones in my life abandon me, you never will, Lord. I am surrounded by your love and compassion. Help me never forget that. Amen.
Prayer for Peace After a Broken Heart
Too often people rehash past events over and over. This just leads to more emotional pain.
Scripture says that it is important to change our thoughts (Romans 12:1-2). Here is God’s prescription for what we are to think about:
“… Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise … Then the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:8-9 NLT
With these Bible verses, we can pray:
Lord, right now I am feeling restless and without peace.
Even though my heart is broken, I choose to think about the many good things I still have in my life. I choose to remember that you still love me. You won’t leave me when others have. And you won’t disappoint me when others will.
Help me to remember your words since they are the truth that will set me free. Amen
Intercessory Prayer for a Broken Heart

And then Father, as the Great Physician, I ask you to heal their heart just as Scripture says.
I know they wish things were different, but these things are out of their control. Help them to realize that you are going to make something good out of this terrible situation.
May you Lord be the strength of their heart. Give them direction and wisdom as there are going to be some hard decisions to make. Thank you for understanding all of this and you already know what the solution will be.
Lord, help them to accept this situation that they cannot change. Help them to realize that it is possible to do all things through Christ Jesus even though it might seem impossible.
Please, Lord, give them the peace that only you can give. Direct their thoughts so the emotional pain can be at a minimum.
Thank you for your loving care for those with broken hearts and crushed spirits. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
