Powerful prayers for teenage girls must be lifted up daily on their behalf. The challenges of being a teenage girl we know are many. From feeling misunderstood, depressed, unloved, attacking every area of who they are as a person and so much more.
Our prayers may cover, protect, and help speak life into them as they deal with being a teenage girl. However, we can often get overwhelmed with where to begin and what to ask for.
The reasons why we find it difficult to pray for teenage girls may be because we are unsure on what exactly what areas are important, may we haven’t grown up praying, we may be new to our faith or never learned how to pray, or haven’t experienced what it’s like being a teenage girl or may have forgotten.
At times, we are dealing with our own mess in life that we don’t know where to start with ourselves let alone know prayers for teenage girls.
“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” (James 5:16)
In doing Youth Ministry for 15 years, I have come to hear the many prayer requests from teenage girls. They can vary from time to time but overall, they are very similar even if the circumstances are different.

Prayers for Teenage Girls
How do I pray for teenage girls?
One of the ways to pray for teenage girls is to do it by looking at them from a holistic standpoint. We are “spirit, soul, and body” and this is the angle we are going to be coming from with the prayers listed below.
“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thess. 5:23)
We don’t want to leave any gaps in their lives open for the enemy to sneak his way through. Hopefully, we can start to learn how to cover them by looking at each one of these areas.
Although this is not an exhaustive list of prayers, these represent a majority of them.

Please note that these are called to be prayer starters so continue the prayer making it personal with details. Commit to keep praying for teenage girls even if it seems like things are getting worse, they may not want it, or they aren’t being receptive.

Daily Prayer for Teenage Girls
When my girls went to public school or whenever they are out of my care and even now when my young adult daughter goes off to school, a general prayer of protection is spoken over them.
We aren’t always in control of their lives, and we don’t know what kind of assignments they enemy has for them. However, we have Holy Spirit to help, guide, and counsel us as we pray for protection over our teenage girls daily.
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” (John 14:26)
Lord Jesus Christ, please protect my teenage girl as she is out of my care. I cancel all assignments from the enemy against their lives. I pray You will send Your army of angels out before them, clearing a path for safe travels, and bringing them home safely tonight. In Your Holy name, Amen.
Prayer for Teenage Girls to Realize People Care About Them and Their Needs
Oftentimes, teenage girls feel like no one cares. They feel unheard, misunderstood, or forgotten about. This may or may not be true.
However, by praying into this area, it can open your eyes to where you may need to change or how you can better show them that this isn’t the case.
Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. (1 Pet. 5:7)
Lord Jesus Christ, I ask for Your help in seeing my error in not caring for the needs of my teenage girl. If I am caring for her, please show me how she can best receive it.
Whether it’s listing out the ways that I do care or having regular check-ins with her, show me how to practically walk this out so I can come against the lies of the enemy that she is not cared for. Amen
Prayer for Teenage Girl to Not Feel Guilt or Shame for Things They Aren’t Responsible For
Unfortunately, many teenage girls have experienced abuse either sexually, physically, emotionally, or spiritually. We don’t realize the effects this may have had on them.
They may carry the weight of guilt and shame blaming themselves for actions that weren’t in their control. It’s not their responsibility for destructive actions forced upon them.
The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. (Psalm 103:6)
Lord Jesus Christ, I ask for forgiveness and forgive myself if there was any way I could’ve done something to prevent this attack from happening and failed to do so.
I take responsibility for the healing of my teenage daughter in any area they were abused in even if it wasn’t my fault either. I ask for Your help in what I need to do to help remove the shame and guilt from their lives and maybe even my own so they can learn from my healing. Amen

Prayer for Teenage Girls to Know How to Confront Fear
Fear can be very debilitating in a teenage girl’s life. It can keep them from stepping out in faith to do what the Lord has called them to do and sometimes that includes doing the most mundane thing.
With the climate we have been in, fear has gripped the younger generations with triggers all around them meant to instill fear leaving them unable to function in a healthy manner.
I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. (Psalm 34:4)
Lord Jesus Christ, I ask that You help me show my teenage girl(s) Your truth in Who You are. I pray for practical ways to show them that true comfort and peace are gifts to your people and that includes them.
Show me any open doorways that are allowing fear to grip my teenage girl(s) from experiencing the peace and comfort You have for them as stated in the Word of God. Amen
Prayer for Teenage Girl to Know How to Confront Anxiety
Anxiety is a form of fear. Oftentimes, teenage girls will experience such high levels of anxiety that it shows up physically causing major discomfort and can lead to a form of becoming paralyzed unable to do even the most menial task.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. (Philip. 4:6)
Lord Jesus Christ, I ask that You show me how to teach my teenage girl how to pray out these anxieties and get a heavenly perspective on those things that seek to imprison them with worry.
Show me any other ways holistically where anxiety could be a result of a lack of vitamins and necessary nutrition to help balance her physical body out.
I pray against any spirit of anxiety in the spiritual realm and ask You to loosen it off of her, bind it, and send it to Your feet to be annihilated forever. Amen
Prayer for Teenage Girls to Know How to Confront Depression
Depression has plagued generations upon generations and is another form of imprisoning, paralyzing, and keeping your teenage daughter(s) from doing anything of benefit to her life.
She needs to be able to function in the small things like sleeping and taking a bath so she can prepare for bigger things like going to school or holding down a job.
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18)
Lord Jesus Christ, I pray for the devil’s foot to come off the back of my teenage daughter seeking to press her down, so she won’t move in the direction You have for her.
Show me Lord anything or anyone that is contributing to the depression in her life. Help me to see where I can practically help her during this time, so no more time is wasted with her being gripped by this debilitating mental state. Amen
Prayer for Teenage Girl on How to Confront Being Overwhelmed
The feeling of being overwhelmed is often overlooked and can be worked out in very practical ways. However, if left untouched can be very corrosive to the overall health of a teenage girl.
By untangling the many duties of teenage girl(s), you can help them see how doable many of their tasks are, so they aren’t suffocated by all the things they are required to do.
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matt. 11:28)
Lord Jesus Christ, I pray You will show me how to help untangle the many tasks laid upon my teenage girl(s). I pray if I am overwhelmed myself that You will teach me how to unravel my own tasks so I can show them how to unravel theirs.
Help keep us in perfect peace as we see the blessings that can be had if we steward our days, tasks, and time well. Amen
Prayer for Teenage Girl to Know the Lord’s Plans for Their Life
The word “plans” is important to notice in the scripture chosen for this prayer because we have often been led to believe that we only have one purpose in life.
The Lord doesn’t have only one plan but many. Therefore, this should take the weight off of having to get it right with only one purpose and realize we can still function in the other purposes He has for us.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jer. 29:11)
Lord Jesus Christ, I lift up my teenage girl to You and ask for Your guidance in the plans You have for her life.
I pray if we have stepped outside of the plans You have for her that You would set us right so we can set them right.
We ask for wisdom, clarity, and provision in each one of those areas. Amen
Prayer for Teenage Girls to Know the Realities Stated in the Word of God.
Many teenagers in general have a misunderstanding or have failed to realize the Word of God is a book filled with very serious warnings when it comes to their salvation.
We are called to take the Word of God seriously. Sometimes, as parents or caregivers, we ourselves don’t know the very real consequences of what it means for our soul if we don’t accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
“And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:11-12)
Lord Jesus Christ, I ask for Your help in cultivating my teen’s relationship with You, so it becomes a real work of salvation and not something that is a byproduct of Christian language, culture, or tradition.
I pray for a relentless pursuit in knowing these warnings for myself so I can help my teenage girl(s). This way I know I have done all I could in my human capacity to provide them with the ability to choose You.
I pray You will prepare them for all conversations we have and silence the voice of the enemy in any way that will seek to snatch the seeds I plant for Your kingdom. Amen
Prayer for Teenage Girl to Realize Tomorrow is Promised to No One
Unfortunately, many Youth believe they can save obedience for tomorrow, but many of us know death knows no boundaries with age.
It’s important to obey the Word of God today and choose Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior today. Again, we are not promised tomorrow.
Many of us have grown up and perpetuated the lie that “you have time” or “let them live” or “they have their whole lives ahead of them.” Where are we believing the lie and how can we change it?
Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. (Prov 27:1)
Lord Jesus Christ, help me to know the very reality of not being promised tomorrow. Help me to find the words, visuals, and life experiences to show my teenage girl that our very next breath could be our last so to use if for good.
I pray against any voices that are coming against Your Word of God that will help them believe they have all the time in the world so they can waste today doing whatever they want. Amen
Prayer for Teenage Girls to Understand There are Very Real Eternal Consequences to Their Actions
Although the mind of a teenager, in the physical sense, hasn’t grown to its maturity to comprehend the realities of consequences, we are called to help them into maturity.
How?
The way we wouldn’t allow a brand-new walking toddler to cross the street until they gained enough maturity to know the very real consequences of being run over by a car, we must equip our teenagers through prayer, equipping them with the Word of God, and teaching them how to hear Holy Spirit until they come to maturity so they can adequately make decisions concerning their lives and the consequences that come when they plant seeds of disobedience.
Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. (Gal. 6:7)
Lord Jesus Christ, first search me God, and show me where I may be allowing open doors of disobedience in their lives.
Give me the words that will help them understand what the Word of God means so they can apply it to their lives and make Godly decisions that can possibly save their lives and souls from the consequences of hell or hellish consequences here on earth. Amen
Prayer for Teenage Girls to Know that Jesus Christ is the Only Way
The world will have your teenage girl(s), really everyone, believe that there are many ways to heaven. There are not, He is the only way. The Name of Jesus Christ is what separates all religions.
Although all religions look similar in many ways, Jesus Christ is the Name that will be the determining factor for eternity. Our teenagers and young adults are surrounded by people who will try to convince them otherwise.
It’s important to pray this prayer over them because it’s the difference between spending eternity in heaven or hell.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)
Lord Jesus Christ, I lift up my teen girl(s) to You and pray they will know the Name of Jesus Christ is the Name above all Names and no one can get to the Father except through You.
I cancel all assignments from the enemy, mindsets, voices, ideologies, culture, lies, deception, and traditions that have set themselves up against You in my teenager’s life. I ask for protection over the Kingdom seeds planted in their life by myself and others. Amen
Prayer for Teenage Girl Over Her Future Spouse
This is such an important piece in the lives of a teenage girl and we often miss it because we may think we can’t speak into this area, our focus is on their college and career, or we are speaking from our own personal history and not from the Word of God.
Many teenage girl(s), including myself in my first marriage as a teenager, have involved themselves with relationships that have stolen, killed, and destroyed. As Christians, we are called to be equally yoked with those who know our God and follow Him closely.
It doesn’t matter if they sit in a church and call themselves Christians, what matters is the fruit we see coming from their lives because fruit doesn’t lie.
“Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?” (2 Cor. 6:14)
Lord Jesus Christ, I lift up my future son-in-law and husband of my teen girl(s) and ask You to expose anything or anyone that is not of You.
I pray You will show us the true fruit of the person so no counterfeits try to enter in seeking to rob my teen girl(s) of their future.
I ask for Your protection over their future husbands and against all assignments against their life that may come in the form of addiction, violence, abuse, sexual immorality, and anything that will keep them in bondage and seek to bring my teen girl into bondage too.
I pray my teenage girl(s) will choose those who are equally yoked with them in the Name of Jesus Christ.
Prayer for Teenage Girls and Those Who Have Authority Over Them
We aren’t always with our children and there are many adults who have authority over them in some ways. Unfortunately, we have seen many leaders take their people down to the pits of hell because their people lacked discernment and for so many other reasons why.
They have coaches for sports, teachers at school, managers at work, family members, or family friends, who may have some level of authority in their lives.
While we can do our best to try and surround them with Godly, healthy, and safe adults, there are times when evil will rear its ugly face.
Praying for their protection and ability to discern what these people are teaching them is vital and can hold eternal consequences if we are not careful.
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. (1 John 4:1)
Lord Jesus Christ, I pray for those who are in authority over my teenager and is called to lead them in some way. I pray for the ability to fully discern for both my teen girl and I. I pray You will expose all assignments from the enemy against their lives in this area and against any distractions that would seek to keep me from seeing or hearing truth. Amen
Prayer for Teenage Girl to Use Their Time in a Godly and Wise Manner
What teenage girls spend their time on, affects their physical well-being. If they say yes to everything, including sports, school, church, family, and whatever else responsibilities they have, what time do they have to rest?
They need time in their schedule to have a moment to breathe and praying for them in this area may help them know what to spend their time on, so they don’t make unwise decisions or behave in a way that is uncharacteristic of them in their tiredness.
Making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. (Eph. 5:16)
Lord Jesus Christ, I pray for Your wisdom in helping with the process of knowing what to do with their time. I know activities take a physical toll on a teen girl’s body and can affect how they function physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Show me the best way to nourish the teen girl(s) in my life so they don’t lack physically including the need to rest.
Prayer for Teenage Girl to Fight for Her Purity
Purity is such a taboo subject both outside and inside the church. Although many have claimed to have been hurt by purity culture, purity is not to be disregarded altogether.
Staying pure is still a standard God has and the obedience in doing so has kept many from unnecessary heartaches and has helped many be healed and restored when sexual immorality held them captive, including myself.
It has saved and may save many teenage girls from all types of consequences that come from sexual immorality.
Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous. (Heb. 13:4)
Lord Jesus Christ, purity is such a debated topic in our world but it’s not something that is old-fashioned but God-fashioned. You established purity to protect us from the harm of being in sexual bondage and the consequences that come from that.
I pray she will wait for her husband and stay sexually pure but if she happens to mess up along the way that she will know You are available for forgiveness and restoration when she comes to You for repentance.
Prayer for Teenage Girls to Know Self-Control
How many lives have been lost due to the lack of self-control? Self-control may save your teenage girl(s) from a lot of heartaches, her life, and in her status in eternity.
Oftentimes, when I have asked my teenage daughters to be in control of their “wants” and to wait and see if what they want is something that is beneficial to their lives, they have often seen how it wasn’t.
Self-control helps us see beyond ourselves by pausing and looking beyond the moment, so we are able to make Godly choices and function in the way God calls us to.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (Gal. 5:22-23)
Lord Jesus Christ, I pray for the best way to cultivate self-control in the life of my teen. Holy Spirit You teach us when to move, speak, stay silent, stay still, and how to behave when unforeseen circumstances arise or even those we thought we prepared for and I pray my teen would cultivate her relationship with You so she knows when it’s Your voice speaking. I silence all other voices that come against You in any way during these times.
Prayer for Teenage Girls to Know How to Communicate Well
Teenage girls get a bad reputation for how they communicate. Many refrain from opening up conversations with them because of the fear of how they are going to react.
Unfortunately, many teen girls have come to know the power of using harsh words seasoned with sass to intimidate those around them. However, when a teen girl is trained to use her communication skills in a Godly way, they can be mighty for His kingdom.
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. (Eph. 4:29)
Lord Jesus Christ, I pray to know how to best train my teenager’s voice to speak in a way that is cultivated to bring out results, respect, and restraint.
I know the voices of teenage girls and women, in general, are oftentimes in danger of being silenced when it’s important for their voices to be heard. Guide us to the proper resources so we know how to communicate in healthy ways that bring about change.
Prayer for Teenage Girl Over Their Sleep
One of the areas the enemy will attack teenage girls in is their sleep. We know the effects of not getting good sleep. We are unable to function the way we are called to and can often make unwise decisions because we aren’t thinking correctly.
Sleep can be robbed for many reasons and if we don’t know why, we must ask the Lord for His wisdom when praying for teenage girls in this area.
In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. (Psalm 4:8)
Lord Jesus Christ, I ask that You protect my teen girl(s) sleep and watch over them throughout the night.
I ask that You send Your Warrior Angels to stand post by their beds and cancel any assignments against their sleep in the form of nightmares, sleep paralysis, demonic visits, or anything else that may try to keep them awake.
I pray for any doorways open either knowingly or unknowingly to be closed and to expose all access to my teen(s) sleep that seek to steal their comfort and peace.
Prayer for Teenage Girls to Know What to Put Down and What to Pick Up
In relation to the prayer of making the best use of their time, there are seasons for everything.
Sometimes it’s their season to be a Captain and sometimes it’s their season to sit on the bench, sometimes it’s their season to be on the Worship Team and sometimes it’s their season to sit in the pews and know what the season calls for can give our teen girl the much-needed time to rest, refresh, and receive.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. (James 1:5)
Lord Jesus Christ, I know in life there are many seasons that call for different aspects of our purposes. I pray my teen will learn when some things are called to begin and when they are called to an end.
I pray for wisdom on how to guide her through the many seasons that contain both laughter and grief.
Prayer for Teenage Girl to Choose Their Friendships Carefully
Many of us have experienced or witnessed what it looks like when people associate with the wrong crowd. The question you must ask yourself is, “Are her friends bringing her closer or farther away from the Lord?”
Ministry can happen inside the home when we open our doors to others, but if we see it’s taking a toll on our first ministry, which is our home ministry, then we must separate and put our children first because it can have very devastating effects on them.
Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.” (1 Cor. 15:33)
Lord Jesus Christ, I pray my teen girl would choose her friendships wisely and know which ones bring life and which ones bring death.
I pray she will choose Godly and like-minded individuals that will bring her closer to You. I pray against any assignments from the enemy that will seek to steal, kill, and destroy what You have for her.
Bonus Prayer for Parents of Teenage Girls to Know How We Can Love Them Better
One of the many things I learned in Youth Ministry and when I started my blog site on how to love your teenager is that teens want to be loved by their parents and parents want to love their teens.
Unfortunately, there has been a cultural lie passed down through the generations both outside and inside the church that teens don’t want their parents and their parents don’t want them.
In my experience, this is a flat-out lie. Therefore, in praying for the knowledge on how to love our teens better, I pray you will begin to see and experience the fruit in Godly, healthy, and safe parent-teen relationships.
Making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; (Prov. 2:2)
Lord, Jesus Christ, give me wisdom on the ways to love my teenager(s) so they can receive it. I pray against the lies of the enemy that seeks to separate me from my teen and repent for any way I’ve allowed it to. Remind me to slow down so I don’t miss out on those opportunities to hear Your wisdom, see them in the way You created them to be, and love them the way You love them.
