Wondering how to pray for your soldier in the military? There are so many ways to call upon the Lord to keep our family safe from those who want to cause harm.
The Bible has a beautiful Psalm that encompasses the ultimate prayer for soldiers. Psalm 91 – is an amazing masterpiece of prayer that portrays God like a roaring lion as our refuge, commander, savior, protector, encourager, and mighty fortress.
What is the Soldier’s Prayer
Speaking of Psalm 91, it has been called the “Soldiers Prayer” because rumors suggest it was recited daily in World War I by the 91st Brigade. Pretty neat, huh?!!
Did you know that while fighting one of the bloodiest battles in the war, the 91st Brigade did not suffer one single combat-related death? Sadly, all of the other units suffered up to 90% losses. It is true – prayer works!
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. Psalm 91: 1-3

Dear Lord, Help our beloved military families to put on the Armor of God. O Lord, protect them from those who want to harm them.
Equip them with the beautiful belt of truth as it rules their lips, mind, and heart, each and every day. Use the breastplate of righteousness to keep them pure.
Ensure their feet keep walking with the Gospel of peace. Hover over with the shield of faith with a constant reminder of your amazing promises about the present and future.
Cover them with the helmet of salvation as nothing can separate them from your love. Help them have a self-controlled, self-less life as they study and savor the Sword of the Spirit.

Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. Prayer for Soldier’s Safety
The desire of parents and family members is to see their loved ones come home from travels overseas. Finding ways to pray for safety whether it’s during combat or typical military procedures, is critical to getting them home safely.
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Rescue me from my enemies, O LORD, for I hide myself in you. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. Psalm 143:8-10 NIV
Father, What a wonderful warrior king who trusted FULLY in your right in the midst of battle. Keep our soldiers safe and strong like David.
While he wept and wrestled with life’s situations, he relied on you. Help our military to be like David. Even when sin filled his heart, you forgave.
Our soldiers are not perfect, please forgive them for any immoral behavior or thoughts. Create in them a clean and moral heart, O God, and renew their spirit with thanksgiving and praise as they run in harm’s way.

Prayer for Soldiers in Basic Training
If you have a son or daughter heading towards basic training or in the midst of it, call upon the Lord to keep them focused on pleasing the Lord and their leadership.
No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer. 2 Timothy 2:4
Heavenly Father, Help our soldiers who are enlisted in war to not entangle themselves in the affairs of everyday life to serve those above them.
As they sacrifice their daily routine to do well in basic training, I pray that they are focused on Your Will. Teach them to be honorable and loyal to their commanders and troops. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Prayer for Soldiers Deploying
If your child’s first time deploying is coming up soon, there will be a growing fear of the unknown.
Your son/daughter or grandchildren need to not fear, but have peace that all will be ok if they put their trust in God.

Dear Lord, As they deploy to the unknown, keep our military men and women humble and pierce their heart so they would see their need for the gospel of grace.

Prayer for Soldiers at War
Worst case scenario is the preparation and execution of war. When war is inevitable, we must turn to prayer to keep our kids and loved ones safe and secure in the arms of Jesus.

Dear Father, We pray for all faithfully serving to protect and preserve justice. Send your mighty angel to watch over your sons and daughters as they face tremendous pressure and danger.
We pray for wisdom and righteous judgment as they care for each other as a team. Provide a beacon of hope for peace and prosperity during these uncertain times of war. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Christmas Prayer for Soldiers
When a soldier comes back from his post, there’s no better feeling in the world. Yet, even though it’s Christmas in the United States, it doesn’t mean a holiday for our troops.
