How Can We Pray for Family Unity
We know how important it is to be unified as a family and not let Satan have a place in our homes, but how can we start praying for that and what do we pray?
Praying individually is great, but praying these prayers together will not only strengthen your relationship with one another but with God as well.
Plus, it is an EXCELLENT way to start teaching your kids about God daily, because you are showing them how to pray.
Sometimes at night, when my husband and daughter are both asleep already (such a mom thing, right?) I will simply ask God, “Please place your hand of protection over our home tonight. Satan has no place here in JESUS name.”
I won’t lie, some of the time it’s out of just pure desperation and ungodly fear of the world. But God hears that prayer, and my heart and He comforts me because I know that He DOES hold us in His hand, and I am interceding on our family’s behalf even in those quiet moments.

Scriptures for Family Unity
Everything we do can be brought back to God’s Word because it is what breathes LIFE into us and our situations.
God is very clear in His word about how important family is, loving one another and making sure you are united because without that it’s so much easier for Satan to have a foothold.
Disunity is just a distraction from the bigger goal at stake here!
Working together is going to further His name and bring HIM the glory, which is the ultimate goal for all believers!
Plus, it is much easier to do so when you are in harmony with each other, not arguing amongst yourselves and missing the bigger picture.
With that, there are tons of verses about being unified that can apply to the family! Here are a few:
- I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. 1 Corinthians 1:10 NIV

There’s no better time than the beginning of your day when you first open your eyes to start praying. You can pray in defense of disunity, that God will protect your family from it.

Father God, I lift up my family to you today. I pray against any scheme the devil may have to cause disunity in our home. Sometimes, we need healing from situations in our family such as trust being broken, recovering from loss, or other situations.

Lord, you know we need you right now. We recognize that there is some healing that needs to happen in our family and it can only come from you. Prayer for Family Unity and Love
What does God say about what happens when believers are united in love? Not just any love, but God’s perfect and holy love. We can look at what it says in Colossians 2:1-3 (NIV) and see!
In Paul’s letter to the church in this book, he prays they will be united in love so that they may have the “full riches of complete understanding” as well as the “treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”

Again, when we are in unity with one another, especially our families, we can tap into that wisdom and knowledge God has for us, and operate out of His love!

Sometimes we experience things in our family where there is a need for reunification.
Nothing but the healing power of God almighty can bring about that reconciliation, and it is so important to pray for His Spirit to heal those hurts and bind your family together once again.
For those struggling with the reunification of your family, here is a prayer for you:
Father God, I come to you right now in great need. Lord, we need reunification in our family, and that can only come from You. Thank you in advance for the healing and unity you will bring to our family, and we ask that Your will be done in this situation. We know you desire for us to be of one accord and we pray that right now in Jesus’ name, Amen.
God wants us to take care of our family and not let Satan have a foothold into something that is so precious to us! Let’s not give him that, friend.
