14 Powerful Tithe Prayers (with Scriptures)

Tithing is an integral part of God’s commands and a way to worship Him and love him with all your heart, soul, and mind.  “Tithe” means a tenth or 10 percent of your earnings, produce, or possessions.

Through these powerful tithe prayers with scriptures, we will learn more about this important command and ask God to bless us as we honor him with what we have.

In the Old Testament, the people could tithe using their fruit of the ground such as farm produce or livestock, wine, or fruit, but in today’s world tithing is with money because it’s our main way of trading.

God is a generous father and has given us his Son Jesus Christ to die for us on the cross and redeem us. He gave us his best and we are only following his example. We learn to give from him.

The truth is God does not need our money because he owns everything. Tithing is an opportunity he gives us to express our love to him, grow our faith and practice generosity and sacrifice. God blesses us when we tithe and obey him.

Why Do We Tithe

There are a few reasons why we tithe. We do it from a perspective of understanding that God owns everything. He created all things including us and said that it was all good. That means even the money we have was created by him, for him.

“The heavens are yours, and yours also the earth; you founded the world and all that is in it.” Psalm 89:11 NIV

Now as his children, we are stewards of all that God owns. He allows us to have everything we own but it all belongs to him. Tithing is a way to show God our gratitude for all that he gives us.

We tithe because God instructs us to do so and we do it as a way of showing obeying him as our Heavenly Father. Another reason we tithe is when you love, you give so tithing is a way we show our love to God who loved us first.

Tithing helps to provide resources for the work of the ministry in the church. It provides for the pastors, missionaries, evangelists, and the needy in the church and community.

When we tithe just like when we pray, it’s also a way we give of ourselves to God in worship.

Another important reason why we tithe is that there is a reward waiting for us when we do. As we will see from the Bible verses about tithing, there is a great blessing in tithing to God.

Tithing Prayers

Now that we know more about tithing from the scripture, below are great tithing prayers you can use dedicating your tithe to God before you send it to church.

Each powerful prayer is a reminder for God to help you have the right posture of heart towards tithing. If you’re asked to make an offering prayer at church, you can use these prayers to guide you.

When someone gives you a prayer request to pray over their finances there is a prayer in here for you to use.

Prayer to Bless the Tithe

As we present our first fruits before God, we should pray and ask Him to bless this offering so it can be used to do many wonderful things for the Kingdom.

Lord God, bless us as we have obeyed you in our tithing. May our tithes bring you honor and glory. Lord of hosts as you receive these tithes and offerings today, may you pour out such a blessing that there will not be room enough for it.

We ask for you to bless this tithe so it can serve the purpose you intend for it to serve. We ask that you pour out your spiritual blessing, financial blessing, and family blessings upon us as your children. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer of Thanksgiving for those Who Give the Tithe

Without the tithe, churches and ministry leaders would struggle even more to help in building God’s Kingdom and leading more people to Christ.

We should always say a prayer of thanks for those who are obedient and faithful in their giving.

Lord of hosts, thank you for the great gift of your son Christ Jesus who embodies the fullness of God. In him, we see the total essence of God and his powers and attributes.

Thank you for the many obedient children who faithfully present their tithes to you!

May these funds be blessed and used is such powerful ways to share the Good News and lead more lost people to their Salvation through you.

I’m grateful that as l give the first fruits of my earnings to you, the rest of the money will be blessed. In Jesus’ name l pray. Amen.

Tithe Prayer Acknowledging God’s Ownership of Everything

As we submit our tithe before God, we are acknowleging that He isn’t taking from us. Everything we give was already His and we are simply returning (and hoping for it to be blessed beyond measure)!

Father God, there is none like you under the heaven and earth. You are the Creator of all things and you own everything. Help me to remember that as a child I’m merely a steward of all the things you’ve given me.

I honor you as my King, Savior, and Lord of Hosts. I’m humbled by your love and grace in my life. As l give you my tithe may l always remember that I’m giving back to the one who owns it all. Amen.

Tithing Prayer to be a Good Steward of my Finances

God wants us all to be good stewards of the resources He provides us here on earth. That includes our financial resources.

Setting aside your tithe is a first step towards that.

Pray to ask God to help you to always be responsible in your finances as well as other areas of your life.

Lord of hosts, thank you for giving me access to the finances that I’m now giving to you as my tithe. Help me to be obedient to your word. Holy Spirit, help me to be a good steward of the financial resources l have.

May l be a good steward of my finances and use them to bring glory and honor to you. Watch over me and bless me financially. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Tithing Prayer to be a Cheerful Giver

God does not want us to give out of obligation. He wants us to willing give tithes and offerings.

Pray to ask God to keep your motives pure in giving and to never allow hesitation or frustration to creep in when giving the tithe.

O Lord, I thank you for all that you have blessed me with. You’ve given me so many good gifts even when l don’t deserve them.

God, please help me not to tithe because l fear the curse that will come if l don’t. Let that not be my motive. Rather may l be motivated by my desire to give to the God who loves me unconditionally. May the joy of God be in me as l give freely to the church.

Holy Spirit, teach me to be a cheerful giver. Remove any reluctance and hesitation from my heart and replace it with an openness to give cheerfully and with gratitude to my loving and faithful Father, In Jesus’ name l pray. Amen.

Tithe Prayer to Prioritize God in my Finances

The tithe is not something that should be an afterthought! Nor should any other offerings.

While we may be tempted to prioritize our earthly financial commitments, God wants us to prioritize Him first in our financial endeavors.

Faithful Father, your word says that we must seek you first with all our hearts. When we prioritize you, you promise that all these things will be added to us.

I pray tday asking that you’d help me prioritize you with my finances. May l never give what’s left after spending all the money l have. Help me to give to in your house first and then use the rest of the money for other needs.

I know that as l prioritize you, these will be a great shift in my life and my finances. I put my trust in you always. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Tithe Prayer for my Financial Needs

God wants to help His children in their areas of distress. And He wants you to know that you can always come to Him in prayer about these things.

This includes asking for His blessings in regard to your own personal financial situations.

I like to remember the ACTS method of praying to ensure I don’t begin with my own requests during this time.

Heavenly Father, as I am giving my tithe this day, l ask that you would meet me at my point of need. Your word says you will supply all of our needs according to your riches in glory.

There are times l get stressed and worried about my needs. But your word tells us not to worry and be anxious about tomorrow because today has enough troubles of its own.

As l give this tithe, I’m trusting you Lord that you’ll provide for me and my family. Thank you for your kindness and love towards me always. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Tithe Prayer not to Become a Slave to Money

Father, you have saved me by the grace l received through believing in the great gift of your son Jesus Christ. I sometimes tend to focus on money too much. Forgive me for that because at times l think l may become a slave to money and idolize it.

Your word warns us that we can’t serve two masters that is money and you O Lord. May my focus and priority be on you as my Savior and not on money. Amen.

Prayer for Trusting God with my Finances

Good father, Often l try to handle things on my own, with my own strategies and ideas. Lord forgive me for that. From today onwards l want to trust you with my finances.

I open my hand to release my bank account to you. May you have your way with it. I know that as my hand is open to give you my finances, I’m also trusting that it’s open to receive your blessings upon my life. Amen.

Tithe Prayer for the Work of the Ministry

Heavenly Father, you have commanded us to give a tenth of our earnings to the church

for the advancement of the Gospel and the work of the ministry. I pray that my tithe would contribute to the growth of the kingdom of God and the good work being done in the community.

May those who are handling the tithes and offerings be blessed. Grant them wisdom and honesty in how they handle the finances of the church. May the love of Christ rule in their hearts above all else. Amen.

Prayer for Faith When we Tithe

O Lord, sometimes l doubt if l should tithe or not, especially when I’m not sure l will make ends meet and when my finances are stained. Give me faith to believe that you know just what l need and when l need it.

May l have the heart and mind of the poor widow in the Bible who gave all she had trusting that God will provide for all her needs. You are faithful always. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Tithe Prayer to Store Treasures in Heaven

Good Father, you let us know in your word that we live in a temporary world. We can’t store our treasures on earth because there is no security here.

Holy Spirit, help me to store treasures in heaven where they will be secure and in an eternal place. May my focus be on investing in the Kingdom of God where l get a good yield and return on my investments.

As l pay my tithes and offerings, it’s a gift of worship to you. It’s my way of showing my heartfelt gratitude for the perfect gifts you’ve given me. Receive my tithe today as a way of investing in your kingdom. In Jesus’ name Amen.

Tithing Prayer for Multiplication in my Finances

Faithful Father, you say that when we tithe, you will open up the windows of heaven and bless us. As l give this the tithe in faith, l pray for the multiplication of my finances so that l would not have room enough to store the financial blessings you give me. Amen.

Scripture About Tithing

As we will learn from these scriptures from the Bible on tithing, Abraham was the first person to tithe in Genesis to the high priest Melchizedek.

This was even before God had given the law to the Israelites which included proper instructions on tithing. Jacob also tithed following his grandfather’s ways.

There were different tithes in the Bible. The Sons of Aaron and their descendants were the Levites or priests and they were the teachers of the law.

They received a tithe as a “salary” and they gave a tenth (tithe of the tithe) to the high priest of God who served in the temple.

There was a tithe given to the Lord annually and he commanded his children to make a feast of their first fruits in honor of him. Then there was a tithe every three years to feed the needy in the community.

In the Bible, we also learn that being humble and cheerful when we tithe is important to the Lord. After all, he looks at the heart and not our actions.

Genesis 14:18-20

“Melchizedek king of Salem (ancient Jerusalem) brought out bread and wine [for them]; he was the priest of God Most High. And Melchizedek blessed Abram and said,

“Blessed (joyful, favored) be Abram by God Most High,
Creator and Possessor of heaven and earth;
And blessed, praised, and glorified be God Most High,
Who has given your enemies into your hand.”

And Abram gave him a tenth of all [the treasure he had taken in battle].” Genesis 14:18-20 AMP

Genesis 28:20-22

“Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear so that I return safely to my father’s household, then the Lord[a] will be my God and this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth.” Genesis 28:20-22 NIV

Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.” Malachi 3:10 ESV
