Thursday Blessings and Prayers

A great way to bless your Thursday is with a simple acknowledgment of who God is and His huge presence in your life:

“Dear God, today I remember that You are present with me and that You go in front of me. I take a moment to still my mind to meditate on Your promises, knowing that You are my firm foundation and that in You there is only goodness and mercy.

Thank You for making my path straight and smooth today. Thank you for being my rock and my strong fortress. Continue to walk with me, stand by me and provide direction for me while I move through the rest of the week in grace. In Jesus Name.”

Thursday, like every other day of the week, is the perfect day to let go of your worries in prayer by giving them over to God.

Be sure to check our daily prayers library to find prayers to pray every day of the week!

What Should I Pray for on Thursday?

Like all the days in the week, Thursday prayer should be heartfelt and authentic. This is a time to bear your soul as well as to recognize His goodness.

(At the end of this post you can find a link to download all of the Thursday prayer images!)

A thankful heart that honors God’s wonderful acts is always in order. It is right to give thanks and praise for all He has done. In fact, it is His will that we do so:

Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. I Thessalonians 5:18 NLT

God always deserves your appreciation for the many blessings you receive and for the favor that you experience.

And while you may not thank God for your difficult moments, He urges us you be thankful during our difficult moments.

By doing so, you recognize the fact that all things that occur eventually will be good for you; even if they don’t feel good to you.

Prayer is direct contact with God. As you reach out to Him, remember to look for His face as well as His hand. Seek to know His character and not just to experience His blessings.

God is so much more than what He is able to DO. He is the Creator who just IS. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6 NLT)

Moses asked the Father who He was so that he could relay His correct identity to the Israelites.

God replied to Moses,”I AM WHO I AM. Say this to the people of Israel: I AM has sent me to you.” Exodus 3:14 NLT

This means that He is God Almighty; eternal, self-sufficient, and all-powerful. He has dominion over all things. Your prayers should reflect that you know that He is far greater than the blessings He gives.

“Dear Father, today I honor You as Creator, Lord, and King. You are all-knowing and all-powerful. Nothing exists that You don’t see. Thank You that all of creation is in Your good and pleasant presence. I acknowledge that You are Alpha and Omega: The One who always existed and will never cease to exist. What a privilege to worship and bring glory to Your name. I worship and praise You for who You are. In Jesus Name.”

Thursday Prayer

Thursday Prayer Points

There are so many things to bring before God that it is difficult to name them all. But that doesn’t mean that you should neglect certain topics. God is interested in hearing your heart so keep your conversation with Him honest.

Thursday prayer points include:

  • confession
  • gratitude for the little things
  • recognize God’s might acts

One thing to remember is that confession is good and necessary.

Whenever you confess your sins to God, He will forgive you and cleanse you from those things, making you righteous in His sight. As a believer, your primary need is to maintain right standing with the Father.

“Heavenly Father, I confess that You alone are the Sovereign Lord who sees and knows all things. Search my mind and heart; removing anything that is not in line with the intents of Your Spirit. Examine my acts and teach me the behaviors that will glorify You.

Thank You for starting a good work in me that You will complete. Forgive me for the wrong that I have done as well as the right that I neglected to do. Create in me a clean and loyal spirit. Grant me the joy that is found only in You. In Jesus Name.”

Another prayer point is to show attention to the things that often go overlooked or underestimated. This includes things such as the privilege of waking up, the gift of life itself, or a portion of good health.

“Lord, thank You that I am here in the earth realm this day, living and breathing. I appreciate all that You have given me and ask that You continue to remind me just how good You are, even in the small things. In Jesus Name.”

Not only do you make efforts to acknowledge God’s presence, but you also want to recognize His mighty acts. David said it best in Psalms 40:5:

“O Lord my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them. “ (NLT)

Remember to supplement your acknowledgment with a word of thanks and sincere gratitude for His many blessings and favors. Again, it is God’s will that you remain grateful to Him since all good and perfect gifts originate with and come from Him.

The most precious gift there is from God is the gift of salvation; yours and everyone else’s. God wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. (I Timothy 2:4)

And while you cannot physically carry the Gospel to every human on earth, your prayers carry great spiritual weight. They open doors for workers within the body to share the Gospel truth, far and near.

“Dear God, I pray that Your Spirit would stir each believer to share a word of truth with someone who does not already know Christ as their Lord and Savior. Teach us all to execute the Bible’s Great Commission with love and kindness. Open the ears of every hearer so that they recognize truth and respond to Your call to salvation.

Soften the hearts of men, women, and children everywhere to receive your truth. Allow them to have an unmistakable “God Experience” that convicts them of sin and causes them to repent. May every believer lift You up so that all people will be drawn to You. In Jesus Name.”

Just as you pray for the unsaved portion of the world, God wants you to petition Him on behalf of leaders everywhere. Paul tells Timothy in chapter 2, verses 1 and 2:

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by goodness and dignity.” (NLT)

“Father in Heaven, I lift to You all our individual leaders in every arena:

…Cultural, church, family, educational, social, civic, medical, governmental, political, religious, national, and all the leaders, worldwide…

Show them Your word that it would be the foundation from which they choose to lead. Teach them Your ways that they would lead us by example. Strengthen their hands to be able to fight against those things that are not like You. Grant each leader wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.

Let them lead with kindness. Show them how to govern with proper authority. Cultivate in them a heart of service so that they can lead with humility. Increase in them a spirit that prays so that Your will would be done in and through them. In Jesus Name.”

Thursday Morning Prayers and Blessings

Thursday morning prayers and blessings are the best way to start this wonderful day!

Morning hours are often the best times to talk to God. It tends to be quiet, early on, while your house is still and you haven’t yet started your daily tasks.

It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning…Psalms 92:2a NLT

This is a perfect time to “command your day”. Not only do you offer prayers of thanks and praise, you pronounce blessings over whatever lies ahead. As a believer, you have scriptural authority to speak order over your day:

I tell you the truth, whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.” Matthew  18:18 NLT

In the morning hours, affirm your trust in the Lord; as He is the one who will hear and answer you throughout the day.

“Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.” (Psalms 5:3 NLT)

Pronounce Thursday blessings over the day for yourself, your family, and your friends. Do this according to Scripture. When your ways please God, you can remind God of His promises and know that He will back His word.

You have a Father who cares and who will always honor His words.

  • Father, provide food for today, both natural and spiritual. Matthew 6:11
  • Father, travel in front of us and cover our backs to protect us. Isaiah 52:12
  • Father, bless us to be able to walk in agreement with Your word. Amos 3:3
  • Father, pour out Your provisions upon us and see to it that our needs are met. Genesis 22:14
  • Father, bless the work of our hands today so we may be productive. Deuteronomy 28:12
  • Father, bless us in abundance and withhold no  good thing from us. Psalms 84:11
  • Father, establish us and grant us favor with those we meet today. Psalms 31:16
  • Father, show us mercy according to Your love and kindness towards us. Psalms 67:1

Thankful Thursday Prayers

There are numerous benefits to prayer. As you know, prayer is communication that ushers you into God’s presence. It calms you emotionally and brings you into communion with Him.

Thankful Thursday prayers – or prayers of thanks – are no less powerful. In fact, they change your focus from whatever is earthly to heavenly, spiritual things. Gratitude has a way of letting you see beyond your current circumstance into how fortunate you really are.

Studies in psychology have been conducted on the effects of gratitude. It benefits you emotionally, mentally, and physically; not just spiritually. Being grateful will create a more positive attitude and cause you to be more content with your life.

Offering thanks to God is not only “good manners”. It benefits you in every possible way and should be a daily habit:

“Heavenly Father, thank You for Your countless blessings over my life. Thank You for giving me all things that have to do with life and Godliness. Thank You for providing food and shelter. Thank You for meeting my needs before I even ask. You are kind and loving to me so I honor You for that.

Thank You for loving me enough to send Your Son to be a sacrifice so that through Him, I might receive the salvation that leads to eternal life. Thank You, Lord, for being my guide and my protector. Thank You for being the Good Shepherd who loves me. In Jesus Name.”

Thursday Morning Prayer for a Friend

Thursday Morning Prayers for a Friend

The most powerful thing you can do for a friend is to pray for them. You don’t always need to understand all of the ins and outs of their situation to pray effectively for them. Holy Spirit is with you to lead you into all truth and to pray specifically for your friend.

There are some less specific, yet meaningful things that you can pray for that will make a difference for your friend. Some powerful Thursday morning prayers for a friend include:

  • A prayer of gratitude: “Lord, thank You for my friend. Thank You for the mutual love, compassion, and harmony that we experience. I appreciate Your kindness that is expressed through us to each other. Thank You for the intimacy we have and the richness of our connection. Thank You for open communication and lively conversation. Thank You for allowing us to spend time and space together, here in Your presence. In Jesus Name.”
  • A prayer of faith: “Lord, thank You for my friendship. I ask that You would be with her now and allow Your Spirit to guide her into all truth. Show her the depths of Your love and increase her faith. Allow her to experience Your kindness and mercy in deeper ways today. Show her ways where there seem to be none. Allow her faith in You to be made stronger despite what she may face. In Jesus Name.”
  • A prayer of abundance: “Lord, bless my friend. Bless her mind and emotions to be positive and loyal to You. Help her to always focus on the prize that is found first in You. Cause her to see You in all circumstances so that she may also experience all that You have to offer. Allow her finances to prosper. Allow her physical body to be strong. Allow her faith to never fail and let her footsteps never slip. In Jesus Name.”
  • A prayer for a good life: “Lord, thank You for my friends. Please continue to bless her with all Your good and perfect gifts. Fill her life with goodness and mercy. Give her joy that is abundant. Grant her grace and give her sunshine wherever there is darkness. Lift her heart in hope and help her to continue to walk upright according to Your perfect will. In Jesus Name.”

Thursday Night Prayers

Before you close out the day, be sure to end it with a Thursday night prayer.

Prayer and quiet devotion just before bedtime will calm your nerves and settle your mind. It will give you peace from the day’s events and allow you an opportunity to rest.

Take the time to acknowledge God and to present your issues to Him before bedtime:

“Father in heaven, thank You for this day that I have never seen before and thank You for everything that You allowed me to see in it. Thank You for being the Rock that is higher than me.

I ask that You forgive me for anything I may have done wrong whether consciously or unconsciously. Help me to better honor You and to serve those around me. Help me to move in love and in kindness as You would want me to.

I release anxiety, stress, and worry to You and I ask for Your perfect peace as I keep my thoughts focused on Christ. You have said that You would give me rest and peaceful sleep. Quiet my concerns as I submit them to You.

And as I rest in You, show me Your ways, Your ideas, Your plans. As I submit to You, allow me to see my place in those plans. In Jesus Name.”
