6 Inspiring Sunday Morning Prayers

Today I want to share some powerful Sunday morning prayers with you, to help you take time to connect and prepare your heart for church. To pause and acknowledge that He is Lord.

Sunday mornings can be busy, especially if you have children to get to church. It can be easy to get so busy trying to get to church, we forget to take time to connect to the Lord on our own.

These are some prayers that do not have to be limited to Sunday, however, they are especially good for Sundays. I pray that they help you in your walk with the Lord.

Sunday Morning Prayers

While prayer is important every day, sometimes we don’t think about making sure we get personal prayer time on Sunday morning because we will be in church later that day.

Prayer doesn’t have to be a grand affair. It can be simple, short moments with the Lord throughout the day.

Sunday morning prayers are just as important as morning prayers any other day of the week and should be part of our regular morning routine every single day of the week!

Sunday Morning Prayer

Sunday Morning Prayer of Gratitude

Science has actually shown that gratitude changes our brains for the better. It’s no wonder we are told in Scripture to give thanks or be thankful.

When we begin our day with thanksgiving, it sets a better tone for the rest of the day. We tend to see even more to be thankful for.

Starting your day with a simple morning prayer of gratitude will set the tone for your entire day!

Oh, Lord, I want to pause to thank You. Not just for all that You have done, but for who You are.

You are holy, holy, holy. Creator of the universe. Yet You care for me. Your loving kindness endures forever. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Short Sunday Morning Prayer

Just because we are busy, doesn’t mean we can’t take time to pray. And, it is sometimes just in our hearts as we are preparing our family for worship, not in our prayer closet. That is okay.

Our prayers don’t need to be long and detailed in order to be effective or for God to hear them.

Here is an example of a short Sunday morning prayer that you can use when you are short of time but want to still make God first in your day.

Father God, help me remember that today is about You. You did not create us to go non-stop.

Help me make time to rest in You. To be still. To acknowledge that You are God and I am not. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Sunday Morning Prayer for Worship

Preparing our hearts and minds for worship is important. It takes intentionality, being deliberate.

Honestly, sometimes I pray this and have to do a brain dump to clear my head, but it really helps.

Before you head off to church to worship God with friends and family, say a little prayer of worship as well!

Holy Father, prepare my heart and mind for worship. Clear my heart and mind of everything but worshiping you.

Prepare the soil of my heart to hear Your Word, that it would grow and produce good fruit. Keep any distractions from hindering my focus on You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Sunday Morning Prayer for Family

Family can make us crazy. But they are also one of the biggest blessings we will ever have.

We should always be praying for our family.

During your Sunday morning prayer times, make sure you thank God for your family (even the ones who annoy you!)

Thank You, Lord, for my family. I pray that You would help us glorify You in all that we say and do. That we would hunger, and thirst for You and Your Word.

That we would grow closer to one another as we grow closer to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Sunday Morning Prayer

Sunday Morning Prayer for Friends

Friends are truly a blessing from God! Our friends help to lift us up when we are down and they continually add value to our lives.

Praying for friends is a simple, yet powerful act of love for them.

Take a minute to think of 3-4 friends to pray for today. Bonus, send them a text or message and let them know that you prayed for them!

Thank You, Lord, for my family. I pray that You would help us glorify You in all that we say and do. That we would hunger, and thirst for You and Your Word.

That we would grow closer to one another as we grow closer to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Sunday Morning Prayer to Thank God for a New Day

How often do we stop and thank the Lord for waking us up each morning? I know that I take it for granted a lot.

The best way to take a step back and realize that the act of simply waking up to a new day is one of the many amazing blessings that God gives us.

So, if you are thankful for this new day, let God know during your prayer time!

Father God, thank You for this new day. Thank You for Your mercies that are new every morning. Teach me Your ways, transform my mind and heart.

Give me Your eyes and love for those I will interact with today. Help me make the most of each opportunity that You give me today. May everything I say, think and do bring You glory. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Talking to the Lord can seem intimidating, especially if we have an over-complicated idea of what that means. It doesn’t have to be a major production, you don’t even have to have a special place or time to do it.

We can pray without ceasing once we realize how simple it really is!

I hope that these simple prayers have helped or inspired you to take time, even on a busy Sunday morning, to talk to the Lord.
