Sunday Morning Prayers
One of the best ways to get your day off to a positive start is the begin the day in prayer. How often do you open your eyes in bed and the first thing you think or say out loud is “Good morning, God!”?
While prayer is important every day, sometimes we don’t think about making sure we get personal prayer time on Sunday morning because we will be attending church services later that day.
Prayer doesn’t have to be a grand affair. It can be simple, short moments with the Lord throughout the day.
Sunday morning prayers are just as important as morning prayers any other day of the week and should be part of our regular morning routine every single day of the week!
Sunday Morning Prayer of Gratitude
Science has actually shown that gratitude changes our brains for the better. It’s no wonder we are told in Scripture to give thanks or be thankful.
When we begin our day with a heart of gratitude, it sets a better tone for the rest of the day. We tend to see even more to be thankful for.
Starting your day with a simple Sunday morning prayer of gratitude is a great way to set the tone for your entire day and the coming week!
But can also help you cultivate a heart of gratitude for the new week ahead by reflecting on how God has already moved in your life in the week prior.
Dear Lord Jesus, I want to pause to thank You. Not just for all that You have done, but for who You are. You are a great Father.
You are holy, holy, holy. Creator of the universe. Yet You care for me. Your loving kindness endures forever. In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray, Amen.
Short Sunday Morning Prayer
Just because we are busy, doesn’t mean we can’t take time to pray.
Prayer isn’t supposed to be difficult or require lengthy, well-scripted words. There are so many creative ways to pray, but uur prayers don’t need to be long and detailed in order to be effective or for God to hear them.
His powerful presence will fill the room at the slightest whipser of a prayer as well as those completely unspoken.
Here is an example of a short Sunday morning prayer that you can use when you are short of time but want to still make God first in your day.
Almighty God, help me remember that today is about You. You did not create us to go non-stop.
Help me O Lord, make time to rest in You. To be still. To acknowledge that You are God and I am not. In His holy name, I pray, Amen.
Sunday Morning Prayer for Worship
Preparing our hearts and minds for worship is important. It takes intentionality and seeing prayer as a priority of worship.
Honestly, sometimes I pray this and have to do a brain dump to clear my head, but it really helps.
Before you head off to church to worship God with friends and family, say a little prayer of worship as well!
O God, prepare my heart and mind for worship. Clear my heart and mind of everything but worshiping you.
Prepare the soil of my heart to hear Your Word, that it would grow and produce good fruit. Keep any distractions from hindering my focus on You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
Sunday Morning Prayer for Family
Family members can make us crazy. But they are also one of the biggest blessings we will ever have.
Often times, we may focus our family prayers to ask God to fix something about them. But always begin your prayers with grateful heart when it comes to praying for our family.
During your Sunday prayer times, make sure you thank God for your family (even the ones who annoy you!)
Dear God, Thank You for my family. I pray that You would help us glorify You in all that we say and do. That we would hunger, and thirst for You and Your Word.
That we would grow closer to one another as we grow closer to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
Sunday Morning Prayer for Friends
Friends are truly a blessing from God! Our friends help to lift us up when we are down and they continually add value to our lives.
Praying for friends is a simple, yet powerful act of love for them.
Take a minute to think of 3-4 friends to pray for today. Bonus, send them a text or message and let them know that you prayed for them!
Thank You, gracious father, for my family. I pray that You would help us glorify You in all that we say and do. That we would hunger, and thirst for You and Your Word.
That we would grow closer to one another as we grow closer to You. In the powerful name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
