The Importance of Praying for Your Church Family

Why should we pray for our church family? Why is it so important to pray for the church congregation? Since the church is one of the three institutions that God ordained, it’s imperative we keep our members in constant prayer.

Ephesians 6:18 tells us that we should always be spiritually praying with any kind of prayer, any kind of request, and we should always be praying for the Lord’s people. So, it’s pretty clear that we remember to pray for the body of Christ!

Many believers have many issues to address, and it’s not easy to deal with these problems, even for the Christian. Many people think that when we become a Christian, our problems go away.

Our temptation goes away. Our health issues disappear. Nope. However, God tells us in His Word, that if we seek Him, we will find Him and will never leave us during our trials.

Prayers for Church Family

At church on Sunday, everyone seems to be happy and have it all together. Yet, I haven’t met many Christians who actually do have it figured out. We all have trials and temptations on a daily basis and we must pray for one another.

Being a Christian doesn’t mean your problems go away, instead, He gives you the spiritual tools to combat them!

Our church family is always there – to help us celebrate and to help us mourn. They are also there to help us stay focused on God and grow stronger in our faith – together.

Remember, in Matthew 16:18 (NIV),

And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

We are the body of Christ, and if we come before His throne, He will hear us!

Prayers for our church family should include praying for physical needs, spiritual needs, praying for their protection, and for the relationships within the church assembly.

Thanksgiving Prayer for Church Family

The opportunity to meet together as a church family is a huge blessing. Many Christians around the world are sadly hiding underground to assemble and worship the Lord.

It is such an amazing blessing the have a church family we can share life’s ups and downs, and to help us grow stronger in our faith.

Let’s not forget to be thankful that we can worship and praise the Lord together in our hearts, minds, and in our physical church.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15 NIV

Heavenly Father, we are thankful for your presence and peace in our church body and praise your name for such goodness in our lives. We are grateful for our church family that we can worship and fellowship together in the body of Christ. In Your precious Name, Amen!

Prayer for Unity of my Church Family

The easiest way for the enemy to wreak havoc in the church is to divide us from within. Our church family must be unified for the cause of Christ.

When we are divided, bickering among each other about insignificant things, it gives the enemy the perfect “in” to divide us even more. But when we stand strong and unite as one, the enemy has no chance of breaking through!

Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12 NIV

Jesus promised us that if two or three are gathered in His name, He is with them.

Matthew 18:20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them. Matthew 18:20 NIV

What an amazing promise! Let’s keep our relationships strong and powerful by loving one another, including the forgiveness of one another and not being offended easily.

My Lord, I pray for the unity of our church family. Please help us keep our relationships strong, unified, and loving in the body so we can always find you among us. You promise that if there are two of us calling your name, you are with us, binding our hearts and blessing our souls with your presence. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Prayer of Protection for my Church Family

There is spiritual warfare going on that we might not see, yet the Bible is clear that God asks us to pray fervently for our protection from the evil around us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Matthew 6:13 NIV

If we ask God to remove us from evil, He will certainly deliver. If we stay on our knees in prayer, we will find that God will provide safe passage from the evil one.

Lord, there is evil all around us, we ask for your hedge of protection as we battle the sins and lusts of this world every day. It’s impossible to fight with you by our side. Shelter us from the wicked one and shield us with the spiritual armor of God. In the Name of Jesus, Amen!

Prayer for Church Family

Prayer for a Revival of my Church Family

Studying the book of Revelations reveals a thought-provoking statement Jesus made to the church of Ephesus.

While Jesus commended the Church of Ephesus for their sacrifices and hard work, he also reminded them that they left their first love. It made me wonder – have we left our first love?

With any church, it’s easy for us to focus on the wrong things and get distracted with busyness or become discouraged with bad news.

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalm 51:10 NIV

We should constantly pray for the revival of our church family with hope that we never leave our first love, Jesus Christ!

My Lord, please revive our church body with a healthy heart and a steadfast spirit, so that we may truly love you in a deep and intimate way. Refresh our souls with the Word of God and replenish our hearts with your holiness. In Jesus Name, Amen.
