Are you looking for powerful prayers for purity? You’re in the right place!
Purity means clean, fresh, whole, innocent, or free of guilt. Personal purity in the Bible means being able to resist the temptation of the enemy and live in a godly manner.
Pursuing purity means our focus is on following God’s will and we don’t allow our minds to be contaminated by the sin and immorality that we find in this corrupt and evil world.
The good news is we can’t make ourselves pure no matter how hard we try.
It’s only by the blood of Jesus Christ that we are made pure by faith. We have all sinned but when we accept Jesus Christ he makes us new again.
Being pure doesn’t mean you no longer sin or make mistakes. It means that when you do, you confess your sins, repent, and ask God to purify you and help you continue living an honorable life.
We often think of purity concerning sexual sin and it’s part of it but not all there is to it. Purity starts in the heart and mind.
As we are made pure inside, this will be reflected in our actions, words, and attitudes.
Through these 6 powerful prayers for purity, we come to God and ask him for his help to obey him, make us whole, and give us a fresh start.

Why is Purity Important for Christians
God is holy and he wants his children to be holy just like him.
We do this by devoting ourselves to his word and committing to walk in purity and freedom from sin. As a child of God, you have a great responsibility to be like him by being pure.
It’s important to be pure because there is a blessing for those who have a pure heart, mind, and body.
The reward we get from God is physical or spiritual in this life and ultimately he rewards us with eternal life.
He knows what we need and will bless us accordingly when we obey him.
We can always find reminders of this in the word of God.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” Matthew 5:8 NASB
Not only does the Lord bless us but when we have purity in our hearts, we gain favor with those around us including those in high positions like kings.
“He who loves purity of heart And has grace on his lips, he king will be his friend.” Proverbs 22:11 NKJV
People are attracted to those with beautiful souls, kindness, and pure motives.
If you are new to prayer and not sure exactly how to get started, here are some creative but powerful prayer methods.
Prayers for Purity
While we see the importance of purity and desire it, we cannot live a life of purity with our own strength, power, and will.
Most often when we try to, we fail and end up discouraged and filled with guilt and shame.
That’s why Jesus Christ died on the cross for us. We need a Savior. Through His blood, we are cleansed from sin and made new again.
This is not a once-off process because we still live in an imperfect world where we sin and disobey the Lord.
That’s why we need prayers for purity to draw on the power of the Lord to make us clean and whole again.
Prayer for Purity of Heart
When we receive salvation, we become new creations. But we still have to battle sin daily and obey the Lord.
Everything starts in the heart then from it, we think and act. That’s why we need to ask the Lord to purify our hearts.
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10 NKJV
Dear Lord, thank you for saving me through the cross. Help me to draw near to you so you can cleanse my heart. Remove impurity in me and renew the right spirit within me.
As You convict me of sin, may l humbly confess, repent, and walk in holiness and obedience. May my heart be firmly rooted in Your word no matter which circumstance I find myself in.
Give me a new and clean heart like yours which is full of love, joy, and peace. In Jesus’ name l pray. Amen.
Prayer for Purity of the Mind
Our minds are a battlefield torn constantly between good and evil.
We need the power of the Holy Spirit to intentionally choose to fill our minds with what is godly and right.
As we focus on God’s word, we develop pure minds that are cleansed by his power.
“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.” Galatians 5:16-17 NIV
Heavenly Father, I know that you desire complete purity in my heart, mind, and actions. Help me to walk in the Spirit and show me daily how my mind can intentionally glorify you.
I surrender my mind to you and pray that you renew my mind to focus on your word above all else.
Give me strength to resist any suggestions of sinful pleasures.
Guard the gates of my mind so that only what is honorable to you enters. I pray that I may have the pure mind of Christ. In Jesus’ name l pray. Amen.
Prayer for Purity of Body
As a daughter of God, you are to flee evil desires and put to death what belongs to the flesh.
This means we don’t entertain worldly desires but rather our focus is on cultivating the fruit of the spirit.
Your own body is the temple of the Holy Spirit so you should honor the Lord with it.
“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.” Colossians 3:5 NIV
Almighty God, help me to refuse and flee the temptations that come my way. I pray that my eyes would not look at earthly things, my feet would not walk to them and my mouth would not speak of them.
Give me the strength to stay away from sexual sin and impure actions that can enslave me.
Teach me to have self-control that comes from your Spirit. Help me pursue holiness and sexual purity.
Cultivate a deep sense of modesty in my dressing, speech, and actions. In the name of the Lord. Amen.
Prayer for Purity of Thoughts
God’s word warns us through different passages about the power of our thoughts. What we think of determines our actions, beliefs, and attitudes.
As believers, we can’t be influenced by the world and its standards. Instead, our minds need to be transformed and focus on what is spiritual so that we can glorify the Lord.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2 ESV
Almighty God, I desire to live in obedience to your word. Clear my mind of worldly and impure thoughts.
Help me to focus more on your word than the things of this world. Holy Spirit renew my mind and transform it so that my focus and desire are on eternal things.
O Lord may my thoughts be acceptable and pleasing to you. May l live a pure and godly life fixing my thoughts on such things that are pure, lovely, admirable, and godly.
I know that the more I think about pure thoughts, the more my heart and actions will be pure. In the holy name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
Prayer for Purity of Motives
Those who are pure do all things, even mundane day-to-day activities for the glory of the Lord not for their own glory.
While we may not be pure all the time, we can ask the Lord to continually help us to have pure motives in our conscience and actions.
“To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.” Titus 1:15 NIV
Heavenly Father, thank you for loving and accepting me just as l am.
I long to do everything for your glory yet sometimes l do things with selfish motives. I repent from corrupt thoughts and ask that you forgive me for my impure motives.
I know that perfect womanhood is not easy so l pray that you would purify my soul and spirit so that my actions honor you.
Take away this unclean heart and give me a heart that desires purity and wholeness. May my private thoughts and public actions all be pure and aligned to your word. In Jesus’ name l pray. Amen.
Prayer for Purity in Marriage
As a born-again child of God, you have been purified by the blood of Jesus Christ and are called to love God and love others.
Such love is unconditional pure and without selfish motives.
The heart of Jesus is that in marriage we would practice purity in love, actions, thoughts, and attitudes.
“Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart.” 1 Peter 1:22 ESV
Heavenly Father, thank you for my spouse and the blessing of this marriage. We pray for purity in our motives as a couple so that all we do is not based on corrupt and earthly motives but on our desire to obey you.
Guide us to have self-control and provide a way of escape when we are tempted.
Remove fighting, bitterness, resentment, sexual immorality, or division in our union. Help us to honor our marriage, respect each other, and love each other.
May your word be the foundation of our marriage as we pursue purity above all else. In the holy name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
