Monday prayers are the best way to get your week off to the best start!
It is in the quiet moments of prayer that God speaks to your heart and gently leads you in the desired way to go. Prayer provides direction:
“Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you, a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left”. Isaiah 30:21 (NLT).
Right after you have enjoyed a quiet and peaceful Sunday, Monday stares you in the face. Mondays remind you of all the things you couldn’t finish during the previous week and of the assignments which are awaiting during the coming week.
It is a day of planning; planning of when to complete the unfinished work of last week, when to do shopping, when to visit your parents, how to get your kids to school and still be on time at work, whether to book your dentist appointment or not, when to clean your house, etc.

Mondays are the door into a new week and that is where the hustle and bustle of the rest of the week starts.
If you do not take care, you would forget all about God due to your busyness. If you allow your busy schedule to distract you from God, your week will turn out chaotically.
When you allow your mind to focus on everything you still must do, you may even feel like you should not waste even one minute of your day on prayer, because you need all your time to complete your tasks.
However, that is a wrong choice. You can choose to take some time and pray, and you will see that because of the time you set apart for prayer, you will rather have time left to do everything else that you must do. When you put God first, He will put you first.

Monday Scripture Blessings
The blessings captured in scripture are unlimited. During your Monday morning prayer time, you can use numerous verses to be a blessing to your life. For me personally, the two top priority blessings are: to know God and to be guided by Him.
There is a blessing encompassed in knowing God:
“A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked. For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right. O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, what joy for those who trust in you.” Psalm 84:10-12 (NLT)
And because of that, you can make this verse your Monday personal prayer:
“I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead.” Philippians 3:10 (NLT)
And there is a blessing in receiving direction. When you commit yourself, your plans, your ideas, your tasks, etc., to God, He will direct you. There is a blessing in knowing what to do in the week ahead. And God promises exactly that when you commit your week to Him:
“Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” Proverbs 3:6 (NLT)
God also promises that you will be blessed in all you do (“If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all his commands”; Deuteronomy 28:1):
“Wherever you go and whatever you do, you will be blessed.” Deuteronomy 28:6 (NLT).
You can personalize this verse when you pray, by saying: “Wherever I go and whatever I do, I will be blessed”. By personalizing scriptures, you speak directly to yourself and declare the word of God over and into your life.
It is a really good habit to personalize and declare scriptures during your prayer time. And when you start your week by praying the above scripture over your life, you have declared blessing, ability, safety, and provision over your life.
And which blessing would be better than knowing that God surrounds you with a wall of protection? He promises in His word that He Himself will be a protective wall around you, and at the same time His glory will be in your midst!
His glory is the manifestation of God’s presence. What a Monday blessing, to be surrounded by God’s protection and filled with His glory!
“Then I, myself, will be a protective wall of fire around Jerusalem, says the Lord. And I will be the glory inside the city!’” Zachariah 2:5 (NLT)
“´For I,’ says the Lord, ‘will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.’” Zachariah 2:5 (NKJV)
Monday Motivation Bible Verse
A Monday motivation Bible verse provides you a piece of scripture to focus on as you set about on your Monday endeavors.
My all-time favorite bible verse is:
“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13
By declaring this verse over your life during your Monday morning prayer, you will propel yourself into a week of victory. You could quote this verse in your mind, but it is even better when you speak it aloud.
If you have not done that before, then it may feel awkward the first time you try it. But do not focus on your feelings, continue speaking God’s word aloud to yourself.
Because His word “is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires” (Hebrews 4:12; NLT).
By speaking the above verse aloud, you declare it to be so in your life. Remember, “faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ” (Romans 10:17; NLT).
Monday Prayer Points
Start your week well: focus on God with Monday prayers. Jesus did the same. He knew how to start a day right. He often woke up early in the morning to pray:
“Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray.” Mark 1:35 (NLT)
Prayer paves the way for God to intervene in your life, to act on your behalf, to calm your fears, and to comfort your pain and anxiety. What would be a better day than Monday –being the start of the working week- to commit your life, plans, intentions, and activities into God’s hands?
Monday prayer is a perfect way to release your burdens, get clarity of mind, discern what is important, and hear from God. Prayer is a two-way communication tool: God hears from you, and you hear from God.
It is in the quiet moments of prayer that God speaks to your heart and gently leads you in the desired way to go. Prayer provides direction:
“Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left”. Isaiah 30:21 (NLT).
When you start praying on Monday morning you could pray for specific things which you know will come across your path that day or that week. In addition to that, there are several general things you can ask God during your Monday morning prayer time.
Monday prayer topics:
- For God’s will to be done in your life.
- To be more Christ-like.
- To rely on God in everything.
- For safety & protection during the week.
- To receive direction.
- To receive provision.
- To be strong and conquer your fears.
- For boldness.
- To help you with everything you must do.
- For health and healing, for yourself and your loved ones.
- To commit your family and loved ones into God’s hands.
You could simply pray in your own words, but it is always good to pray the word of God over your life and over every situation you are facing. Remember, on Monday you are committing the full week into God’s hands.
Short Monday Morning Prayers
Monday morning prayers are the perfect start of your week, no matter what your week looks like, and no matter which uncertainties are awaiting you. By beginning your week in prayer, you dedicate yourself, your life, and your week to God.
Monday Prayer for the Week Ahead
“Lord, I commit myself and the week which lays ahead to You. I know that I can fully depend on You; You are my source of strength and inspiration. When I tap into You, I know that I can do all things. I am not afraid and confidently look forward to this week because You are with me.
As your child, I am blessed in my going out and coming in and in everything I do. I may see danger and destruction during this week, but it will not come my way. I declare safety over my traveling and safety at home. It is well with me and my family. Protect me from evil and guide me, so that I will do what is right.
When a trap is being set before me, please let me discern what to do. When temptations sneak around the corner, provide me with the strength and wisdom to overcome them, because I know that You will provide the way out. Above all, let Your will be done throughout this week, and not mine. This I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
Monday Prayer for Work
“Father, as I go out today, grant me the safety to reach my working place and back home in the evening. Thank you that my life is in Your hands and that no one can rob me out of Your hands. I receive Godly wisdom to fulfill my tasks at work and to be excellent in all that I do.
Provide me with the ability to perform my tasks. I will work as for You and not unto men. If I get discouraged, please Lord cheer me up. I surrender my colleagues and boss to You, guide them and enable them to be the persons You want them to be. Let me reflect Christ in everything I do and speak.
I step into my destiny as your child and will use every moment of the day to please You. I thank You for wisdom, guidance, and protection for this working week. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.”
Monday Night Prayer
Now, when you close the day, do not forget to thank God for everything! It is vital to go back to God and tell Him how much you appreciate Him and all that He has done for you. In the evening, you literally thank Him for the day. You could thank Him in general or you could add specific points of your day to it.
A Monday night prayer of thankfulness could be as follows:
“Father, thank You for today. Thank You for Your guidance, love, care, and comfort shown to me throughout the day. Through all that happened today, You have drawn me closer to You. You have strengthened me and confirmed that I can do everything in You.
Thank you for the fact that I am alive and that I have been able to fulfill my tasks. And I know that anything that I was not able to do today, You will grant me the grace to pick it up tomorrow. And even though I do not understand everything that has happened today,
I know that you will let all things work together for my good. I rely on You. I thank You for taking away my fears and anxiety and for giving me a good night of rest. I am going to bed without fear, I will lie down and sleep soundly.
I surrender the night and the next day to You because I know that your faithful love never ends. I am looking forward to wake-up tomorrow morning because Your mercies never cease, they begin afresh each morning. Great is Your faithfulness. Amen.”

Kick Off Your Monday in Prayer!
Mondays can be hectic; Mondays can be frightening; Mondays can be intense.
But Monday prayers can truly change the path of the rest of your week!
No matter how your Monday may appear to you, do not focus on the conditions of it. Instead, focus on God. By moving your attention away from whatever is bothering you, and rather looking up to God, He will step into your situation and move for you. At the same time, you will move your burdens from your shoulders to God’s capable shoulders:
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” I Peter 5:7 (NLT)
Remember, Jesus – God’s Son- did the same. Every now and then He separated Himself from the crowd and spent time alone in prayer, especially in the morning.
We are created in God’s image; we can therefore certainly do the same as Him: separate ourselves and spend some time in prayer. There is a blessing in starting your day and starting your week in prayer. Use your personal prayer time to lift your spirit, soul, and body up to God.
Tell Him what is bothering you, ask Him for what you need, and declare God’s goodness over your life. Above all, align your life with Him, align your will with Him. If you walk in His will, which is perfect, your week cannot go wrong. Because God will be for you, so who could be against you? Nobody.
Therefore, on Mondays, commit yourself and your week to God. Use all the above-mentioned prayer points to kick-start your week. The benefits and blessings are multiple. Don’t forget to use His word in your prayer time, and to continue declaring His word over your life.
By declaring God’s word, the word you declare will produce victory, protection, healing, and continual breakthrough for you and your family. Open your mouth wide and declare God’s words, morning, and night, with confidence and authority.
“This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24 (NLT)
And no matter how your Monday has started, remember it is the day the Lord has made. And because of that, it is going to be good! You can confidently step into your Monday and rejoice in God.
